Bride and groom on stairs

Planning your perfect wedding takes a lot of time, effort and money. We all lead busy lives and often don’t have enough time to dedicate to hours upon hours of wedding planning, so to save you time and money we’ve compiled a list of our top 20 wedding hacks! If you’ve got any hacks of your own, let us know on social media!

#1 Set up a wedding only email address

It’ll make communicating with suppliers much simpler and less stressful. It means your personal and work emails don’t get a continual influx of wedding related emails, making finding a particular email like looking for a needle in a haystack! Share the log in details with your other half and everything is in one place. Ta-daa!

#2 Pinterest, who?

With thousands of ideas at your fingertips, install Pinterest this second onto your phone or tablet. It will give you lots of inspiration and ideas to consider and helps when trying to execute and explain your vision to others. There are thousands of ideas ready to be discovered and it’ll give you both some free wedding inspiration.

#3 Be realistic

With everything from budgets, guest lists and honeymoon destinations to name but a few. Be realistic in terms of affordability and what you can afford with what you intend to spend. Don’t have a huge shock when it comes to paying the bills!

#4 Open that mind

If you’re looking for ways to control your overall spend, consider visits to eBay or charity shops. You’ll be surprised at what bargains there are available. Many couples that have already had their weddings will likely sell on their wedding purchases at a fraction of the purchase cost. Also be sure to check out local Facebook wedding groups where there are always continual adverts for items for sale.

#5 Code your RSVP

When sending your RSVP and invites, number the RSVP to the corresponding guest. It makes meal preferences, table plans and EVERYTHING much simpler! It also helps in the event an RSVP is sent back with no name – you’ll know exactly who it is from!

#7 Table plan – Post-It Notes

Jot down each individual guest name on a sticky arrow tab. Have a blank table plan and then have heaps of fun in sticking the guests where you want to site them. It’s as easy as that!

#8 Gift Lists

If you already live together you probably won’t want a traditional gift list, as you’re likely to get lots of kitchen or home accessories. Instead look for a honeymoon gift list, experience led gift list or consider kindly requesting money to put towards a memorable present of your choosing.

#9 Sending an RSVP? Use a personalised address stamp

This will save writing the same address 100’s of times – your handwriting after the first 10 will suffer too!. Websites such as Etsy and notonthehighstreet.com have lots of stamps available.

#10 Inform your bank

When it comes to paying your suppliers you’ll be making a number of high value withdrawals/transactions (potentially). To stop your bank considering any fraudulent action is taking place – inform them beforehand to save any embarrassment.

#11 Summer wedding?

If your wedding takes places during the summer months, consider having an Order of Service which double sup as a handy fan to keep your guests cool. Happy guests = Happy wedding purse!

#12 Utilise your friends

If you know of friends that can help with you music for your evening reception, kindly ask them to help out and ensure you tell them the kind of music you want played. You want to avoid any songs that make cause offence or upset!

#13 #WeddingHashtag

To get your guests sharing photos of your day, pop your wedding hashtag onto your wedding stationary and in no time you’ll have a vast range of photos throughout your day in one place. However be certain that you want your wedding photos uploaded to social media.

#14 Order a wedding day takeaway

If you’re worried about not having time to eat, ask your caterer to pack a ‘to-go’ bag you can take at the end of the reception so you and your husband/wife don’t leave feeling hungry!

#15 Wifi or no Wifi?

If you’ve got guests ‘Skyping’ to watch the ceremony, check there is a secure Wifi connection beforehand. You don’t want them missing a single second of your beautiful day!

#16 Veil Weights

If you’re planning on having an outdoor wedding, some veil weights will stop you whipping your guests in the face!

Get some heel protectors for you and your guests to stop them sinking outdoors into the ground.

#18 Static wedding dress

If you’re having an issue with static on your wedding dress, run a metal clothes hanger over it and hey presto – no more static!
